This is an outfit from a week or so ago, just after I got may hair trimmed.  I'm slightly obsessed with maxi skirts still! Whoever said short people can't wear them was lying!

As so the hair, he didn't take that much off my hair, but the blow-dry was AMAZING!  My hair never felt so smooth, silky and bouncy - and I've never had so many compliments on my hair in one day either!

I haven't managed to re-create the superb job he's done at home though, my hair just turns out a bit more fluffy!  Does anyone else have the secret to salon finished hair at home?

Yesterday the family and I decided to head off the the river for some Sunday Lunch.  It was sunny when we arrived, so we started off outside, but then it started to rain so we quickly moved inside.  We went to the Crabtree in Hammersmith, a fabulously decorated Victorian pub right on the river front with a lively atmosphere and a delicious menu - if your in the area I highly recommend you take a visit.

In the evening my sis and I headed to the cinema to watch 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' which was pretty darned good!

It was such a lovely Sunday, and today I'm off to a Cider Festival.... yumyumyum!

A Long Time Coming...

Apologies for the lack of post everyone, I've been rather swamped at work, but not to worry, I have next week off so expect to see more of me around here! :)

Anyway as promised in my last post, here is an update of Abi, Mark and my adventures last weekend... warning - hugely photo heavy post!

The day started when Miss Abi and Mr Mark picked me up from my house, and Mark revealed part of the surprise - we were off to the largest market in London.  It was all very exciting, though as we grew closer to our destination, Wembley, and the huge hustle and bustle of the market, it quickly came apparent this was not our kind of market.  It was filled with knock-off designer handbags, fake MAC make-up, phone covers, curtains and all other kinds of goods, I mean if your into that kind of thing, great, though we were not.

We made sure we wandered down every isle, just to see if there was anything that took our fancy, but unfortunately not, and after all that we all forgot to take a single photo. doh!

Our next destinations was Brick Lane Market - now this was my kind of market, stalls upon stalls filled with hand made clothes and jewellery and racks and racks of vintage clothing.

We chowed down at one of the food stalls and wandered the streets taking an obscene about of photographs, taking in all the sights sounds and smells of the wondrous London market.  After hours of browsing, the stalls started to pack up and the sky began to turn orange we decided to head to Spitafields Market for a drink in Las Iguanas a chain of Latin American restaurants that serve killer cocktails, Abi and I went for a Cherry Fizz (Cherry Brandy, Gin, elderflower cordial, lemon juice and cranberry juice), and Mark went for a Virgin Pina Colada - if you would like to know how to make one of their scrumptious cocktails just click here.  It was a perfect end to a perfect day.

And here is what I wore for the day, the weather man promised 26°C and he didn't lie, it was such a glorious Summers day, and the perfect chance to finally wear one of my dresses that haven't really had the chance to make an appearance this Summer

Yesterday I also had the day off and Jackie, Abi and myself decided to visit Cambridge for the day - though I'll save that adventure for another time.

Soulful Saturday ♥

Today has been a lazy day, I haven't had such a chilled out day in a while, so I decided to take this slow.  I've been laid in bed all morning listening to Otis Reading & Percy Sledge just to name a few, it was soooo nice and relaxing.

In the afternoon I popped to Westfield with my sister and picked up a couple of bits for myself in H&M which I'm sure I'll show you soon on the blog.  Here's what I wore today, and typically as soon as I stepped outside the heavens opened and it started to bucket down.  This evening I've just been catching up with my favourite blogs and surfing the web.

I'm actually going to get an early night to prepare for my adventures tomorrow with Abi and Mark to an unknown location lunch which I mentioned in my last post. ohhh I'm super excited and will be sure to take lots of pics to share with you guys.

Can't Touch This...

I bought these trousers on my now not so recent travels - I can't believe it's already been over a month since I've been back! booooo I do miss the sunshine, the beaches and the adventures.  I've made a promise to myself to explore more of London and the UK.  Considering I've lived in London all my life, I haven't seen much of it, and am very jealous of all the adventure other bloggers have in London.

Anyhow back to the trousers, I like to call them my MC Hammer pants, they are super comfy and lightweight, perfect for the warm days and evenings of SE Asia.  I really didn't know if I could pull them off on the streets of London, but nevertheless on one of the very rare sunny days recently I decided to give them a shot.  I really do love these pants, and I'm happy report I felt good and had loads of compliments, I'm so happy they didn't lie dormant in the back of my wardrobe waiting for my next trip away.

I love the colour and pattern of the pants, they're just super pretty - I also bought them in another colour, cream with pink elephants, hopefully it will be sunny again soon and I can show them off to you guys.

My adventures start this weekend - my friends Abi and Mark and I are going to drive off and find some random town to have a Sunday Roast and take lots of pictures.  Are any of you guys exploring your local areas?

♥ Rabbit Heart ♥

This is an outfit from a while ago but I just wanted to show off these sandals, I got them during my recent travels.  These are custom made in the beautifully picturesque town of Hoi An, Vietnam.

They are made from genuine suede, and one of a kind, made especially for my tootsies, for the amazing bargain price of $13, and I just love them so much, definitely my most precious item of clothing at the moment.

In other news, I threw a belated birthday bash for my friend and myself last night, it was so much fun, I do love a good party, here are just some of the pics of the evening...

It was a night of boogying and sipping wine with good friends, we started off in Cuba Libre in Angel, a cute little Cuban Restaurant/Bar with walls smothered in memorabilia serving the most delicious cocktails.  Sticking with the Latino theme we then headed to Barrio North, playing some of the best Latino and Soul tunes I've heard in a long while, I mean how can you beat shimmying to Tina Turner - Proud Mary?  Needles to say I'm feeling a little fragile today, but that's not much to pay for such a fun-tastic weekend.  But if your ever looking for somewhere to go in Agel, I highly recommend these two venues, you will not be disappointed.

LOOK who's talking now ♥

Firstly my ♥heart♥ goes out to my fellow Londoners and everyone across the UK experiencing the chaos of the mindless riots!!  It's been absolutely ridiculous here, I'm so outraged by this mindless criminality!

Right... now on with my post, as you can see, I am still happily obsessed with headscarves.  I've also been experimenting with different ways to tie them, and I quite like this new look, it's quite 'housewife-esque' don't you think?

I don't really like the clips with the headscarf and have no idea how people keep their headscarf on their heads without them moving? as mine just slip right off otherwise - any tips anyone?

Now down to business, I am going to enter the LOOK blogger Competition!!! Do Do Doooo!  I know I'm rather slow off the mark, but everyone knows the story about the tortoise and the hare :)  And I genuinely love LOOK magazine and when reaching for a Fashion mag, they will always be my first choice due to their no nonsense approach to high-street fashion!

I know this is only a small blog with a small following but I hope to inspire people as they have inspired me.  I'm Michelle, the writer and founder of Pretty Things, a Life and Personal style blog enthused by affordable high-street pieces.  I take inspiration from anything from a stranger passing me in the street to other bloggers to the colour of the sky in the evening - it may not be high-fashion, but it is fashion.  I want to share with the world that you don't have to follow any fashion rule, that you dress for yourself and what make YOU feel good and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.  This blog is not just about fashion, it's also scattered with the likes of crafty DIY's and daily adventures thrown in for good measure.

Going to the Chapel...

Yesterday I attended a wedding of two friends from university down in Portsmouth - where we went to uni.  It was such a lovely day and strange to be back in the Portsmouth with all the old crowd.

The ceremony was beautiful and the church was so cosy and drenched with light bursting through it's stained glass windows.  My favourite part was when they were signing the papers, a friend of the groom played the song from Scrubs which got a giggle, followed by a song Foo Fighters and Green Day  - not your traditional wedding music, but great anyway.

The groom also had three Best Men and his own wedding cake!  Or should I say a three tier pork pie - Amazaballs!!

Unfortunately I was having such a great time I didn't get a chance to get a snap of my outfit, but here is wee idea of what I wore:

All items you guys have seem before on my blog.  I did contemplate buying another outfit for the wedding, however I decided I have enough clothes to choose from!

Today I spent the day wandering the town with my uni friends exploring our old haunts and some new ones - Southsea Castle right on the sea front.  Henry VII built this castle to protect the port of Portsmouth, it's only small but was nice to see, considering I never visited through my 3years of being in Portsmouth.

Scorchio!

This week has been an excellent week so far.  Though it was my birthday on Monday I still had to work, but I woke up to a pile of pressies from my family! YAY a perfect way to start Monday, at work I received 2 bottles of lucozade (yes I'm addicted), went for lunch at Wahaca's, received an awesome hand made card, the best jar o'buttons and an amazing hand made bracelet from Abi - she's so creative!  I was meant to have the cake on Monday, and apparently lots of people gathered in my office to sing and eat cake, but I didn't turn up as I was in another meeting and only found out at the pub that evening, so I got my cake on Tuesday instead - haha.  It was the most delicious chocolate cake decorated with profiteroles and mousse for Patisserie Valerie - yummmmmmmmmm

I also got a birthday sleep in on Tuesday courtesy of work until 12pm, and the sun has been shining all week and the temperatures are rising (30 Degrees Celsius today!)- so all in all it's shaping up to be a rather fabulous Birthday Week!
