Back in my Day

Cardigan - Vintage | Top & Skirt - H&M | Tights & Socks - Primark | Belt - Stolen from another dress | Boots - Zara

I know I said I didn't like this skirt a couple of posts ago, however I think it works much better with boots as opposed to shoes - what do you think? Or maybe it's the darker tights, who knows, but it's back in my good books.

Yesterday was the first day of Chinese New Year (Kung Hei Fat Choi!!!), though it was a really wet and cold day, there was still lots to do.

My Ma and me started the day by popping by The Vintage Flea Market, I think we arrived too late as the stalls were pretty bare.  The thing about 'Vintage' fairs, they're all so expensive and packed nowadays as they're so popular, gone are the days when they were simply known as jumble sales and you could find that hidden gem.  Even charity shops (well at least in London) have cottoned on and there are no more 50p bargains! sheesh - does anyone know any places to find good bargains in London?

In the afternoon we headed to our favourite Dim Sum restaurant - Royal China, where we met up with by Bro and Pa and stuffed ourselves silly with dumplings.  Everything was scrummy but if you do go, you must try the BBQ pork puffs - sticky, sweet with crumbly pastry - to die for!  Did anyone else do anything for Chinese New Year?

Chop Chop

And so I present to you my new do, I mean it's nothing particularly special or different, but it is around 5inch shorter and now dye free, and I'm loving it.

I haven't had my hair cut in AGES, and I really fancied the change, and I am so chuffed!

Jumper, Tights & Socks - Primark | Shorts & Necklace - H&M | Boots - Office

I'm currently enjoying a very lazy Sunday, I'm still in my PJ's and watching repeats of Come Dine With Me - for those not in the UK, it's a hilarious cooking programme which is less about the cooking and more about the quirky contestants.

It's been a busy busy two weeks with late nights at work and a flying visit to Ireland for my Nan's 80th Birthday.  She got an almighty surprise, but it sure was knackering, flying Saturday morning, party Saturday night and flying back Sunday morning.

This is quite a comfy outfit but perfect for the windy cold weather we're currently experiencing here in London.

A couple of weeks ago we saved a mouse from our cat ... however it escaped and now it's hiding in the cupboard, so we've inadvertently caused a mouse problem in our house. doh!  We've put down humane traps, but the mouse has outsmarted them.  I think we're going to have to resort to poison :(

Scruffy Pup

Aran Cardigan - Vintage | Top - H&M | Skirt, Tights & Socks - Primark | Necklace - Accessorize | Boots - Office

I think I look like a bit of a scruffball here - with the messy hair and slouchy cardigan, but I still quite like it - what do you guys think?

I really like pencil skirts and body con mid-length dresses, however my muffin top does not agree, so I have to pair them with baggy tops.  I need some inspiration how to style them with a not so slender body, anyone got any tips?  I also never realised how hard it was to find a plan oversized T, their either far too long, far too see-through or far too high in the neck - sheesh, who knew it would be so difficult to find such a basic item!

Anyone else have problems of what you thought to be a basic item?

And this will be the last pic with my long locks, as I'll be revealing my new shorter do.

This weekend I shall be be jetting off to Ireland tomorrow for one night only for my Nana's Surprise 80th Birthday.  It should be good, though I don't think I'll be getting much sleep as there will be about 30 people staying in 2 houses ... fun!  I'll let you know how it goes.  What's everyone else's plans for the weekend?

I little bit of sparkle

Cardigan & Tights - Primark | Dress - H&M | Boots - Clarks

So I've actually chopped all my hair off, but I've got a few another post to go before you can see it.  I've really been getting into my television series and the moment and have caught up with The Walking Dead (love love love) and Game of Thrones (brilliant!) and currently catching up on Boardwalk Empire - I loooooove the characters style, it's set in 1920's:

Don't you just adore the 1920's style?

With all the snow around, I've been debating if I should buy a pair of Hunter Wellies - I mean I've seen better designs around for about £15, but I've gone through 3 of them by finding they hand holes as I stepped through puddles and snow!  But on the other hand Hunters are at least a whopping £65! Does anyone have any good alternatives?

It wasn't just my blog that I have neglected over the Christmas period, I didn't paint my nails once!  So I decided to jazz them up a little with a little sparkle.

Barry M - Racing Green & Jewel Britannia

What do you think?  I do like the accent nail, I don't think I'll get bored of it,  it makes a simple manicure pop.

I always bypass this dress in my wardrobe, it just looks so plain on the hangers, yet when I have it on, I fall back in love with it - anyone else get that with any of their clothes?

❄ Winter Wonderland ❄

Aran Cardigan - Vintage | Dress - Urban Outfitters | Tights - Primark | Shoes - Office

Right, it's high time I got back into the blog.  I know I have been MIA for a good couple of weeks and have paid for it as I've lost a couple of followers :( I just got so swept up with Christmas and New Year, with lots of family fun and parties, and now snow!  I can only apologise and promise I'll be better this year.  Please forgive me?

I've not taken full advantage of the sales this year, I don't know, I've just not been brave enough to hit the high street this year, but I have managed to pickup one our two bargains, like this dress for £15 and these shoes for £25.  Has anyone else managed to grab any bargains?  Did you guys throw yourself into the sale spirit?

If you follow me on twitter or instagram, you'll know it's been snowing in London - FINALLY is all I can say, I love it when the parks are covered in beautiful white snow, and you come indoors covered in frosty flakes.  Have you guys had snow in you part of town?  And do you love the snow?

Rosie The Riverter

 Jumper, Necklace & Boots - Primark | Top - H&M | Leggings - Marks & Spencer | Headscarf - Vintage

It's the first real day back at work and it was just impossible to get out of bed this morning, which mad it impossible to wash my hair without being obscenely late ... queue YouTube and my favourite hair guru Natalie @ oakoscar100 and a 10min hairstyle.  The Rosie The Riveter inspired do was so quick and easy that you've got to check it out.

This was my first attempt, what do you think?

Face - Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer, Clinique Blended in 0.2 | Cheeks - Sleek Pomegranate | Eyes - Natural Collectio Sea Shell | Eyeliner - MAC Macroviolet

Do you like my matchy matchy eyes and scarf?  I wish this line was as purple in real life but unfortunately it is not - sad times.  I also should have used a clear elastic rather than a blue band - doh! I'll remember for next time.

A Happy New Year to all, how did you guys ring in the new year?  I was at a house party in Waterloo with a rather good view of the London Eye and the fireworks - it was a pretty awesome and rather drunken affair!

I've made a few resolutions for the year:
1. Get back to the gym
2. Eat more healthily
3. Go on more dates
4. Save more money

What new year resolutions have you made?

Pulling the wool over your eyes

Jumper, Tights, Necklace - Primark | Skirt - Topshop | Socks - H&M | Boots - Zara

I hope everyone had a jolly, merry Christmas and they got to spend it with their loved ones.  I had a really fun day with some of our family over and singing karaoke until the early hours.

I'm sorry for not posting sooner, I thought with my time off I'd be able to show a little love to my blog, but it turns out, I just got caught up in Christmas.  Before the big day, my lovely Hungarian friend decided to put on a little Hungarian Christmas Dinner and oh my gosh it was delicious!  Here's the menu:
Starter:
Hungarian meaty pancakes - Hortobagyi husos palacsinta :)

Main:
Slow cooked marinated pork belly served with apple sauce

Sides:
Pickled red cabbage with apple
Roasted Apache potatoes
Orange glazed carrots
Roasted parsnips
Warm garden pea and green bean salad with sesame seeds

Pudding:
Orange and walnut parfait served with orange and vodka jelly
Believe me, it tasted as good as it sounds!  What have you guys been up to during this Christmas period?
This is another item I haven't worn in years - this skirt I purchased from Topshop about 5 years ago and it keeps escaping the clear out as I love the colours and the the silky material, and as it turns out it goes pretty well with baggy jumpersI'm glad I didn't ship it off to the charity shop.
What's everyone's plans for the NY?  I've got 2 house parties to attend, but I may just stick to one as getting from one place to another before midnight generally means I end up celebrating on the tube or a bus.

It's a Wrap

 Coat - River Island (old) | Scarf - Monki | Aran Cardigan - Vintage | Top - H&M | Jeans - Levis | Boots - Office

A slightly different outfit post today, more or an outerwear post.  I don't think I'll be doing too many of these, but I love coats and jackets and have quite a few in my collection and always find myself eying everyone's coats on my way to work in the morning.  Anyone else do that?

I loved last weeks weather here in London, it was soooo cold with thick frost on the cars in the morning but blistering sunshine throughout the day - perfect weather for warm mulled cider.  I can't believe it's less than a week until Christmas - I have sooooooooo much to do, it's quite scary!  What about you guys - have you got everything done?

Barry M - Mint Green & Jewel Britannia

As you can see, I've gone all Christmassy with my nails also with lots of sparkle.

Sunshine on a Rainy Day

Aran Cardigan - Vintage | Dress & Socks - H&M | Tights - Primark | Necklace - Forever21 | Boots - Office

It's that time of year that the Aran Cardigans come out of the wardrobe, they're just so snug and warm and darned practical I can't help but team them up with everything.  For any long term followers of my blog, you'll know I couldn't get enough of these last year, what can I say? I love a chunky knit!

Yesterday my Ma and me decided to have a wander around the South Bank Christmas Market, it has got me even festive with the smell of mulled wine wafting through the air, and crowds singing along to the Christmas tunes playing through the loudspeakers, it was such a nice atmosphere and it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  What's making you guys feel festive?

Another hair tutorial I found on YouTube, once you get the hang of a basic french braid it's pretty easy to create various styles, I love this one in particular because it's so pretty and girly - and most importantly easy to create!  What do you think of this hairstyle?  Have you got any easy hairstyles you want to share?
